Sacramento, Calif. – The Sacramento Valley is sweltering under a dangerous late-summer heat wave, with a Heat Advisory in effect through 11 p.m. Saturday as triple-digit highs grip the region. Saturday afternoon is expected to peak near 99°F, keeping heat risks high for outdoor activities, especially in urban areas where overnight cooling is limited.

According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, hot and dry conditions will persist into early next week, with daily highs near 98°F through Monday. Forecasters warn that prolonged exposure could lead to heat-related illnesses, urging residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

Daytime highs across the Central Valley, including Elk Grove, Roseville, and Davis, will remain in the upper 90s through Monday before a slight dip into the mid-90s by Tuesday. Overnight lows in the low to mid-60s will provide some relief but remain warm enough to keep nighttime cooling limited.

The advisory highlights elevated risks for those without reliable access to air conditioning. Cooling centers remain open across Sacramento County, and residents are advised to never leave children or pets in vehicles.

Hot conditions are expected to ease slightly by midweek, though above-normal temperatures will continue. Officials caution additional advisories may be issued if heat risks linger.
