Sacramento, California – Highs in the 90s will blanket much of the Sacramento region Thursday, as a summer heat surge grips interior Northern California while coastal areas remain cooler.

According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, inland cities such as Redding (95°F), Red Bluff (93°F), and Chico (92°F) will see above-average warmth, with Sacramento peaking near 90°F by late afternoon. A broad swath of the Central Valley, including Marysville, Stockton, and Merced, will remain in the upper 80s to low 90s through sunset.

Residents in Sierra foothill communities like Placerville and Sonora will also feel the heat, with highs around 88°F. Meanwhile, coastal cities such as Eureka (58°F) and San Francisco (68°F) will stay significantly cooler due to marine influence.

The NWS advises limiting outdoor activity during peak hours (2–6 p.m.) and staying hydrated. Vulnerable groups—including seniors, children, and outdoor workers—should take extra precautions as heat-related illness risk rises.

No heat advisories have been issued yet, but temperatures may remain elevated into the weekend. Updates will be posted if conditions intensify or extended heatwaves develop.
