Sacramento, CA – Motorists across northern California woke to thick fog blanketing the region Sunday morning, creating hazardous travel conditions on major routes, including I-5 and State Highways. A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m., urging drivers to slow down and increase their following distance.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Sacramento office, visibility is reduced to a quarter-mile or less in the northern San Joaquin and southern Sacramento Valleys, as well as the greater Delta region. These conditions are expected to ease later Sunday morning as temperatures rise. Drivers are encouraged to use low-beam headlights and avoid sudden braking to reduce the risk of collisions.

Foggy conditions will give way to partly sunny skies later Sunday, with temperatures reaching a high of 58°F. Overnight temperatures are forecast to dip to 39°F, with clear skies developing. Monday promises sunny conditions, with highs around 62°F and calm winds. The week ahead is largely clear, with temperatures hovering in the low 60s during the day and dropping to the low 40s overnight.

Residents should plan extra time for travel Sunday morning and stay tuned for updates from local authorities. The NWS advises all motorists to remain vigilant, as dense fog can form quickly and linger in low-lying areas, particularly near waterways and valleys.
