SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Northern California will enjoy one last stretch of classic fall sunshine this weekend before a round of showers returns early next week. Warm, calm weather will dominate Saturday and Sunday across the Sacramento Valley, with ideal conditions for pumpkin patch visits, outdoor markets, and early Halloween decorating.

According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, temperatures will climb into the mid-70s through Sunday, with cool, crisp mornings in the low 50s. The calm pattern will shift Monday as a weak Pacific system slides inland, bringing scattered showers along I-5 and into foothill communities. Rain may cause slick spots for morning commuters and dampen outdoor events by Columbus Day afternoon.

Caltrans advises drivers to slow down on wet roads and check wiper blades before traveling. Gardeners and homeowners can expect cooler evenings but no frost yet, though temperatures could dip toward the upper 40s by midweek as the system clears.

Looking ahead, fall-like highs near 70 degrees will linger through Wednesday with partial clearing. While not a major storm, early-week rainfall will freshen lawns and bring the first taste of true autumn air to the Central Valley. Residents are encouraged to plan outdoor projects this weekend before wetter, breezier weather arrives Monday.
