SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Showers and a few late-night thunderstorms will dampen Sacramento overnight into early Friday before skies brighten and temperatures rise toward 80 degrees by Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, rain chances peak before dawn Friday with isolated rumbles of thunder possible, especially near I-5 and Highway 99 corridors. Roads could be slick for the Friday morning commute, with low visibility in spots. Rainfall amounts will remain under a quarter-inch for most areas, but brief downpours could cause minor ponding.

By Friday afternoon, clouds will break as drier air moves in. Saturday and Sunday will feature clear skies, daytime highs in the upper 70s, and light winds. Monday looks even warmer, reaching near 80, signaling a return to typical early October conditions across the Sacramento Valley.

Caltrans advises drivers to allow extra travel time early Friday and watch for wet pavement. Outdoor events over the weekend should see no weather disruptions. Residents are urged to protect outdoor electronics or decorations from Thursday night’s showers and prepare for cooler mornings, with lows dipping into the 50s.

This short-lived system marks one of the season’s first organized rain events for the Valley, offering a brief taste of fall before dry, mild weather dominates again through midweek.
