Sacramento, CA – A months-long investigation by the California Highway Patrol’s Organized Retail Crime Task Force (ORCTF) has uncovered a sophisticated theft and fraud ring linked to more than $900,000 in losses across California, authorities announced this week.

According to the California Highway Patrol Valley Division, the scheme targeted multiple Home Depot locations statewide. Working in partnership with the Sacramento Police Department and the Placer County District Attorney’s Office, investigators identified several individuals allegedly tied to the organized criminal enterprise.

Search warrants executed from Baldwin Park to Hayward resulted in the recovery of roughly $307,000 in stolen merchandise, $59,000 in cash, and 12 firearms. The recovered goods have since been returned to retailers, officials said.

Multiple arrests have been made in connection with the ongoing investigation, though the names of the suspects have not yet been released.

“Organized retail crime impacts not only businesses, but the communities they serve,” said CHP Chief Tyler Eccles, Commander of the Valley Division. “This investigation underscores the strength of collaboration between law enforcement and our retail partners.”

The case involved coordination between several CHP divisions, including the Southern, Border, and Golden Gate Divisions, as well as Home Depot’s Asset Protection team.
