Romeoville, IL – A fire broke out in the garage of a two-story home in Romeoville on Thursday evening, prompting a large emergency response, according to the Lockport Township Fire Protection District.
Firefighters responded to the 200 block of Zinnia Drive around 5:40 p.m. and arrived to find an active fire in the garage. Crews quickly contained the flames to the garage, preventing further damage to the home.
All residents were home at the time but safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported. However, the occupants are currently unable to stay in the home due to utilities being shut off.
The fire was escalated to a general alarm, bringing in mutual aid from the Homer, East Joliet, and Plainfield Fire Departments.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by Lockport and Romeoville Fire Investigators.
