Rome, NY – A 2025 STA bus crashed on a Route 825 ramp Tuesday afternoon, prompting a hospital transport.

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, deputies responded around 1:48 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, to a one-car personal injury crash involving a bus on the westbound State Route 49 ramp from State Route 825 in Rome.

The operator, identified as Rachel E. Gelormino, 30, of Rome, allegedly lost control of the 2025 bus, owned by STA of America, during slippery road conditions. The vehicle slid and collided with a guide rail on the southern shoulder of the roadway, authorities said.

Gelormino sustained minor injuries in the crash. She was evaluated by EMS at the scene before being transported to Rome Hospital for further medical evaluation.

Investigators determined the slippery roadway contributed to the bus sliding into the guide rail. No additional vehicles were reported involved.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by AmCare Ambulance, the Rome Fire Department, and Clinton Collision.

The crash occurred during the mid-afternoon commute period, potentially affecting drivers navigating the Route 825 and Route 49 interchange.
