Rome, NY – A tornado with wind speeds of up to 135 mph touched down in Rome on Tuesday, causing significant damage and concern among residents.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Binghamton, NY, the EF2 tornado struck at approximately 3:25 p.m., resulting in extensive structural damage and uprooted trees. NWS meteorologists are currently surveying the storm damage and expect to complete their assessment by 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
