Medford, OR – A quick round of fall showers will move through southern Oregon overnight into Friday morning before skies clear for a stretch of warmer, drier weather. The Rogue Valley will transition from damp and cloudy to sunny and mild through the weekend, with highs climbing into the lower 80s by early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, rain chances remain around 50 percent overnight before tapering by mid-morning Friday. A few slick spots may develop on I-5 and rural roads early, but drier conditions are expected by Friday afternoon. Winds will remain light, though some northwest breezes may develop Saturday evening.

By Sunday, abundant sunshine and calm conditions will take hold across Jackson and Josephine counties, with daytime highs reaching the upper 70s. Monday and Tuesday look even warmer, with highs near or above 80 degrees — well above average for early October. Clear skies at night, however, will allow temperatures to dip into the mid-40s, which may bring localized chill to outlying valleys.

Travelers, especially those commuting north toward Grants Pass or south into Siskiyou County, can expect dry and smooth conditions through midweek. Outdoor plans, including school sports and harvest events, should benefit from the extended sunshine. Residents are advised to prepare for wide day-to-night temperature swings by dressing in layers and keeping an eye on morning chill.
