Plaistow, NH – More than 100 commercial vehicle violations were discovered this week during a joint traffic enforcement effort in Rockingham County, raising concerns about roadway safety for local drivers.
According to the New Hampshire State Police, troopers assigned to Troop G partnered with the Plaistow Police Department on Tuesday, January 13, following complaints from residents about unsafe commercial vehicle operations in town. The coordinated initiative focused on commercial motor vehicle compliance and driver safety.
During the operation, officers conducted 87 total traffic stops, including 44 commercial vehicle inspections. Authorities reported uncovering 106 violations during those inspections.
As a result, 10 drivers and eight vehicles were placed out of service for critical safety violations. These included issues related to unsafe vehicle conditions and improper driver credentials, police said. Vehicles placed out of service are prohibited from operating until the violations are corrected.
In addition to the out-of-service orders, enforcement officers issued 39 written warnings and 14 summonses. Violations ranged from routine traffic infractions, such as stop sign violations, to more serious offenses involving noncompliance with federal commercial motor vehicle regulations.
State police said the enforcement initiative was specifically designed to address ongoing safety concerns raised by Plaistow residents, particularly involving commercial traffic traveling through residential and high-volume roadways.
Officials confirmed that additional joint patrols and enforcement efforts are planned, as state and local police continue working together to improve road safety in Plaistow and surrounding Rockingham County communities.
Drivers are reminded that commercial vehicles are subject to strict federal and state safety regulations intended to reduce crashes and protect the public.
