Rockingham County, NC – Authorities are investigating the reported theft of campaign signs supporting a local candidate for sheriff, incidents that occurred at two separate locations in Rockingham County in late December.

According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, a candidate running for local elected office reported that two campaign signs supporting Brian Harbour for Sheriff were stolen from public areas. One sign was taken from U.S. Highway 29 near Pulliam’s Grocery on or around December 31, 2025, while another was reported missing from the area of Highway 700 and Peanut Road in Ruffin on or around December 23, 2025.

The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that during election season, the theft or defacement of campaign signs is considered a criminal offense under North Carolina law, regardless of political affiliation or candidate support.
