Reidsville, NC – A 25-year-old fugitive wanted in Virginia and North Carolina was arrested Thursday in Rockingham County following a vehicle chase and wooded manhunt, authorities said.
According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began in Danville, VA, when an elderly woman was allegedly pepper-sprayed, robbed, and had her vehicle stolen. A description of the stolen vehicle was distributed, and Deputy J. Dickerson spotted a matching car traveling southbound on NC Highway 14 near Reidsville.
Officials said the driver fled when the deputy attempted a stop, abandoning the vehicle at a gas station near Walmart on NC Highway 14. The suspect reportedly ran into nearby woods. A perimeter was established, and the Rockingham County Special Response Team, along with the NC State Highway Patrol air unit, launched a coordinated search.
The suspect, identified as Ni’Majae Syncere Logan, was taken into custody after officers located him in the wooded area. Logan faces charges in Rockingham County including Felony Possession of a Motor Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, and a Fugitive Warrant related to the Danville incident. He was issued a $400,000 secured bond.
Authorities added that Logan also has outstanding warrants in Wake County, NC, for felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, burglary, and fraud-related charges. Danville Police additionally filed charges including carjacking, credit card theft, and use of tear gas.
