Denver, CO – The Rocky Mountain region is forecast to see a shift toward cooler, more unsettled weather from October 24 through October 28, 2025, according to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center’s latest 6–10 day outlook. The pattern signals below-normal temperatures across the northern and central Rockies, with a chance of light snow at higher elevations and scattered rain in valleys.

According to NOAA’s forecast issued October 18, a trough of low pressure moving inland from the Pacific will bring cooler air and increased moisture across Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and Idaho. Daytime highs in mountain areas may fall into the 40s and 50s, while overnight lows could dip into the 20s and 30s. Lower elevations, including Denver and Salt Lake City, should see highs in the 50s to low 60s, several degrees below seasonal averages.

Precipitation chances will rise midweek as the system passes through, producing light to moderate mountain snow and valley rain showers, especially across the northern and central Rockies. The southern Rockies, including New Mexico and southern Colorado, are expected to remain drier and slightly warmer.

Meteorologists note that this cool-down contrasts sharply with the ongoing warmth east of the Rockies, marking a distinct west-to-east weather divide typical for late October.
