Rockford, Illinois – Three Rockford residents face multiple felony charges following separate weekend incidents involving armed robbery, illegal weapons possession, and a reported stolen vehicle.

According to the Rockford Police Department, officers were flagged down around 6:35 p.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of Garrison Avenue by a man who reported being robbed at gunpoint. Shortly after, SCOPE officers located the suspect vehicle in Cherry Valley and took Donovan Mitchell, 25, into custody. Police said officers allegedly recovered items taken during the robbery, along with a loaded handgun and Adderall pills.

The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized charges of armed robbery, aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a controlled substance. Mitchell was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.

In a separate incident Saturday at approximately 9:58 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop near Broadway and 21st Street. Police said two loaded handguns and oxycodone pills were allegedly found inside the vehicle. Terrence Keys, 33, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, possession of a firearm without a serial number, no valid FOID, and additional offenses. Passenger Amanda McManis, 34, faces aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon and controlled substance charges.

On Sunday morning, officers also attempted a stop on a reported stolen vehicle near Rural and Regan streets. Anthony Holmertz, 21, and Malek Freeman, 19, were arrested after police allegedly recovered a loaded handgun. Freeman faces unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle charges.

The incidents remain under investigation.
