Rockford, IL – Rockford firefighters rescued a person from the Rock River on Friday morning, pulling them from the water’s edge.

According to the Rockford Fire Department, emergency crews responded to a water rescue call and quickly located the individual along the rocky shoreline. Firefighters used rescue equipment to secure the person before safely transporting them onto a fire department boat.

The rescued individual was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition. Officials have not released details on how the person ended up near the river or their current identity.

Fire officials urge residents to stay cautious around bodies of water, especially as weather conditions fluctuate. Recent rainfall and colder temperatures can create dangerous currents and hypothermic risks.

The Rockford Fire Department continues to remind the public to report any signs of distress near waterways.
