Rock County, WI – Residents near Newville witnessed a heavy police presence early Saturday after Rock County Sheriff’s deputies activated the SWAT team to arrest a man allegedly armed with a knife at the Park N Ride on N Goede Road.
According to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, deputies located a vehicle around 1 a.m. on September 27 occupied by 41-year-old Alexander Kluball of Beloit, who had an active felony arrest warrant. Officials said Kluball refused to exit the vehicle and allegedly armed himself with a knife, prompting a multi-agency tactical response.
The Rock County SWAT Team, Hostage Negotiations Team, Drone Team, and K9 Team all responded, with assistance from the Edgerton Police Department, Janesville Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Lakeside Fire/EMS. After several hours of communication, deputies reported that tactical force was used to take Kluball into custody.
Sheriff’s officials said Kluball sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident. He received medical care on scene and was transported to a nearby hospital by EMS. In addition to his outstanding warrant, new charges from Saturday’s incident are expected to be filed in Rock County court.
Authorities reminded the public that all charges are allegations and that Kluball is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
