Road Rage Incident Involving Tow Truck on Route 83 Ends in Fatal Shooting

Crestwood, IL – A tow truck driver was fatally shot in a road rage incident on Route 83 near Cicero Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

According to Crestwood Police, the incident began just after 3pm when the tow truck and a Buick Enclave collided near Cal-Sag Road and Cicero. The vehicles continued south on Cicero before turning into Rivercrest Mall’s access road. The tow truck driver allegedly drew a gun, prompting the Buick driver, a valid concealed carry holder, to fire a shot.

The 35-year-old tow truck driver was transported to Christ Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The Buick driver is cooperating with the investigation.
