Richmond, VA – A steady round of snow is moving across much of central and eastern Virginia this morning, creating slick travel and low visibility for commuters, according to the National Weather Service in Wakefield.
Forecasters report widespread snow accumulations of 1–3 inches, with the heaviest totals on grassy and elevated surfaces. Local slippery spots are possible on untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses, especially across Farmville, Richmond, and the Virginia Peninsula.
Snow is expected to taper off late this morning across inland areas and by early afternoon near the coast, including the Eastern Shore. While major impacts are not anticipated, motorists should use caution, reduce speed, and allow extra stopping distance during the morning commute.
The weather service also encourages residents to share snow reports and photos to assist forecasters in monitoring storm totals and verifying accumulation trends.
