Richmond, VA – Virginians are waking up to a cold and breezy Veterans Day, with early morning flurries tapering off and temperatures climbing only into the mid to upper 40s, according to the National Weather Service in Wakefield.

Forecasters say skies will stay mostly clear through the day, but northwest winds will remain brisk, creating a chilly feel for outdoor ceremonies and commutes. “Dry, chilly, and breezy conditions will set in by sunrise,” the NWS said, noting that wind chills may hover in the upper 30s to low 40s through midday.

The coolest readings are expected across inland areas including Richmond, Farmville, and Petersburg, while Norfolk and the Tidewater region may reach the upper 40s under continued sunshine. Winds could gust between 20 and 25 mph at times before easing overnight.

Skies will remain dry into Wednesday, with gradual warming expected midweek as high pressure builds across the region. Overnight lows tonight will dip into the upper 20s and 30s, keeping frost possible in rural spots.
