RICHMOND, VA — A crisp, blustery chill has settled over Virginia this morning as cold, dry air rushes in behind a strong front. Sunshine will return later today, but temperatures will struggle to reach the low 50s, and the wind chill will make it feel even colder across central and eastern Virginia.

The National Weather Service in Wakefield says the chill will deepen through Black Friday and Saturday, bringing morning lows in the 20s inland and lower 30s near the coast. Friday will feel brisk and breezy, with gusts tugging at shopping bags and flags along Interstate 95 and the Hampton Roads corridor. Afternoon highs will hover near 45°F, with wind chills staying in the 30s through much of the day.

For those headed out for Black Friday sales, bundle up — “very chilly and breezy” conditions are expected to linger through the afternoon, according to NWS forecasters. The air will stay crisp and dry Saturday, with sunny skies and calmer winds.

Looking ahead, Sunday brings a shift. Clouds will thicken as another system approaches, bringing a chance for late-day showers and a brief warm-up into the mid-50s to low-60s, especially across southeast Virginia and the Tidewater region. That rain could mark the start of an early December transition to wetter, cooler weather early next week.
