Richland County, SC – Sheriff Leon Lott announced the arrest of a 17-year-old in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on the 1700 block of Nearview Avenue on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, investigators determined the victim was attempting to purchase a firearm from the juvenile when the suspect allegedly shot and killed him.

The teen was later located by the department’s Fugitive Task Force in Sumter. With assistance from the Sumter Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop and took him into custody without incident.

Authorities transported the suspect back to Richland County, where he was booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Sheriff Lott said Lemmon is being charged as an adult with murder, criminal conspiracy, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a handgun under 18.

The investigation remains ongoing as deputies continue to review evidence and interview witnesses connected to the shooting.
