Providence, Rhode Island – Summer makes a subtle entrance in Rhode Island this weekend as fog, showers, and a few thunderstorms give way to clear skies and warming temperatures starting Sunday, June 1.

According to the National Weather Service, showers and areas of fog will taper off Saturday evening, setting up a mostly sunny Sunday with highs near 67°F across Providence and central Rhode Island. Southwest winds between 10 and 14 mph will push out the remaining haze, offering the region its first real taste of June sunshine.

Conditions remain dry and seasonable Sunday night into Monday, with lows in the upper 40s to low 50s. By Monday, skies stay clear and highs climb to 72°F — a sign that summer weather is settling in. Those traveling along I-95 or Route 1 can expect ideal driving conditions through Tuesday, though drivers should remain cautious of reduced visibility early Saturday due to fog.

The warmup continues Tuesday, with temperatures reaching 79°F under sunny skies. However, light wildfire smoke from Canada could impact air quality in parts of the Northeast into midweek. Monday night and Tuesday evening remain mostly clear, offering great conditions for outdoor plans or early summer events.
