Providence, R.I. – Rhode Islanders will see one more day of dry skies before scattered showers move in Saturday night and linger into Sunday, slowing weekend travel. Highs will hover near 80 degrees today before dipping into the mid-70s with more clouds and spotty rain to close out the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Norton, Saturday brings partly sunny skies with highs near 78 degrees, but a chance of rain develops after sunset. Showers are expected mainly after 8 a.m. Sunday, with precipitation chances near 30 percent. Any rainfall amounts will be light, with less than a tenth of an inch expected.

The greatest impacts are expected in Providence and nearby communities, where drivers may face wet roads Sunday morning into the afternoon. Winds will remain light, but low visibility in passing showers could complicate travel along I-95 and I-195.

By Monday, skies turn mostly sunny again with highs near 78 degrees, giving Rhode Islanders a stretch of calmer weather to start the week. Another round of unsettled skies could return by midweek.
