Rhode Island – Clouds are steadily building over Providence this afternoon, and the shift toward a wetter, breezier pattern is already underway. The air feels cool now, but conditions will change quickly as scattered showers move in and temperatures begin a steady climb toward early summer warmth.

According to the National Weather Service, Providence reaches 57°F today before scattered showers develop late tonight, mainly between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m., with a 30 percent chance of rain. Winds could gust up to 24 mph, creating a brisk and unsettled feel across the region.

Drivers along I-95, Route 6, and downtown streets should prepare for slick pavement and brief visibility drops late tonight into early Monday. Plan extra travel time and keep headlights on when rain begins. Gusty winds may also push debris onto roadways.

Monday stays active with scattered showers developing through the morning and again by afternoon. Breezy southwest winds up to 21 mph could make for a choppy commute, especially on bridges and open roadways. Conditions improve slightly into the evening as skies begin to clear.

By Tuesday, a noticeable warmup takes hold. Sunshine returns with highs near 78°F, giving the region a mild and more comfortable feel. That warming trend continues into Wednesday, with highs near 80°F before another round of showers develops late in the day and into the evening.

Thursday remains unsettled with additional rain chances and highs in the mid-70s, keeping roads damp at times. This back-and-forth pattern signals an active spring setup across southern New England.

Five Day Outlook for Providence, Rhode Island:
Today: Increasing clouds, high 57°F
Tonight: Scattered showers late, low 43°F
Monday: Scattered showers, breezy, high 66°F
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, high 78°F
