Providence, R.I. – Drivers across Rhode Island could face slick streets and reduced visibility Monday morning, as light rain develops after 9 a.m. across Providence and surrounding areas.
According to the National Weather Service, Monday, June 9 brings a 20% chance of rain developing late in the morning with mostly cloudy skies. Roads like I-95 and Route 6 could see light showers impacting visibility during the early commute. East winds near 8 mph may shift later in the day. Monday night carries another round of light showers, with chances increasing after 3 a.m. Tuesday.
On Tuesday, expect a greater impact: between 2 and 4 p.m., the NWS warns of a 60% chance of showers and a possible thunderstorm. Commuters and residents in Providence and Warwick should monitor conditions, as heavy downpours may briefly cause ponding on local streets. Winds remain light, but storms could slow travel through mid-afternoon. Use caution and check local advisories before heading out.
By Wednesday, drier air takes over. Sunny skies and a high near 81°F will dominate both Wednesday and Thursday, offering a break from early-week rain. Friday and Saturday return to partly cloudy skies, with a low chance of rain by next weekend.
Warnings remain limited for now, but more advisories may follow by Tuesday afternoon. Check updates regularly at weather.gov.
