Rensselaer Man Charged After Threatening Officers and Causing Downtown Disturbance

Rensselaer, IN – A downtown disturbance on Tuesday resulted in the arrest of a 44-year-old Rensselaer man on multiple charges, including alleged battery on a public safety official.

According to the Rensselaer Police Department, officers responded to reports of a man reportedly yelling threats in the downtown area. Witnesses said Ryan Wright, 44, was shouting and allegedly threatening to kill an unidentified woman. Officers later located Wright entering a building where his disruptive behavior reportedly continued.

As police approached, Wright exited the building and began yelling again. When officers tried to arrest him, he reportedly resisted and struck an officer during the struggle. Police said Wright also threatened to kill the officers during his arrest and transport.

Wright was booked into the Jasper County Jail. He faces charges including felony battery on a public safety official, three counts of felony intimidation, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
