Rensselaer, IN – A joint operation between Rensselaer Police and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office led to multiple arrests Thursday following an investigation into a stolen vehicle tied to an apartment on Bmar Drive.

According to police, the case began on October 5, 2025, when officers obtained a search warrant for an apartment in the 900 block of Bmar Drive. Investigators said a passenger car reported stolen from the same complex was later recovered, leading them to identify 24-year-old Curtis Watson as a suspect. Officers also learned that evidence related to the theft might be located in an apartment occupied by 22-year-old Jeniyah Diaz, where Watson had reportedly been staying.

A report was forwarded to the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office, and charges were requested against Diaz after methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were allegedly found during the search. A warrant was later issued for her arrest.

On November 6, officers went to serve that warrant and found Diaz inside the residence. Two individuals attempted to flee through a window but were quickly detained. One of them, 19-year-old Nathan Hornbeck Jr., was arrested on an outstanding probation violation warrant.

Police confirmed Watson is already in custody at the Jasper County Jail on separate warrants through Jasper and Pulaski Counties and was formally charged with auto theft on November 4.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
