Rensselaer, IN – A serious vehicle accident with injuries and entrapment occurred north of Rensselaer Saturday afternoon, causing State Road 231 to close temporarily. Several victims were involved, requiring assistance from Rensselaer firefighters, Jasper County EMS, Keener EMS, and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department.
According to the Rensselaer Volunteer Fire Department, a crushed car door was quickly opened with specialized equipment upon their arrival. The landing zone for a medical helicopter was moved from a nearby cornfield to the Aix Church parking lot due to safety concerns with freshly picked corn shucks.
The road has since reopened, but drivers are urged to remain cautious in the area.
