Reno, NV – The National Weather Service Reno has issued a Wind Advisory for much of western Nevada and northeastern California, including Reno, Carson City, Lake Tahoe, Lassen County, and Surprise Valley, in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday.

Forecasters expect southwest winds 25–35 mph with gusts up to 50–65 mph across valley locations. In the Lake Tahoe Basin, gusts on Sierra ridges may reach 100 mph, producing 2–4 foot waves on Lake Tahoe and hazardous boating conditions.

Affected areas include Reno, Gardnerville, Fallon, Susanville, Truckee, Tahoe City, and Gerlach. Strong winds may cause tree damage, blowing dust, hazardous driving, and isolated power outages, especially along US-395, I-580, and I-80.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, avoid lake activities, and prepare for potential power disruptions. High-profile vehicles should use extra caution when crossing open highways or mountain passes.
