Reno, Nev. – A slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms could bring gusty winds and wet roads to Reno today, just ahead of a dry and sunny stretch through the holiday weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, isolated showers are expected between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., followed by a chance of thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Winds may gust up to 20 mph, with daytime highs near 89°F. The chance of precipitation is 30%, and any storms could affect U.S. 395 and I-580 during the afternoon commute.
By tonight, conditions will clear with lows around 60°F. Reno will see increasing clouds on Thursday, but no additional rain is expected. The Fourth of July looks sunny and mild, with highs near 83°F and light winds.
Heat returns by the weekend, with Reno climbing to 91°F Sunday and hitting 95°F by Tuesday. Residents should prepare for rising temperatures by hydrating, limiting outdoor work during peak hours, and checking on vulnerable neighbors.
