Reno, Nev. – Northern Nevada residents should expect a shift from warm sunshine to unsettled skies as rain chances develop late Thursday and continue into the weekend. The National Weather Service says a weak system will bring scattered showers into Reno, Sparks, and surrounding valleys, with the best chance for rainfall Friday into Saturday.
According to the Weather Service, Friday carries a 30% chance of showers, mainly before 11 p.m., with highs cooling into the upper 70s. Saturday stays partly cloudy with isolated showers possible before skies begin clearing into the evening. Winds remain light, limiting widespread impacts, but slick roads could develop during brief downpours.
Daytime highs will drop from the upper 80s Wednesday and Thursday to the low 80s over the weekend. By Sunday, drier air returns, with sunshine and a high near 84 expected across the Truckee Meadows.
Travelers heading across the Sierra or U.S. 395 corridor should prepare for changing conditions, especially Friday evening when scattered showers are most likely. Outdoor events may see brief interruptions, but no widespread flooding or severe weather is expected.
Conditions improve steadily into next week, with sunny skies and highs in the mid-80s Monday.
