Reno, NV – Northern Nevada remains under a heat advisory through 9 a.m. Wednesday, with daytime highs in Reno, Sparks, and Carson City expected to climb into the upper 90s Tuesday afternoon. Lower valleys and basins will see the most intense heat, while overnight lows will only drop into the mid-60s, offering little relief.

According to the National Weather Service in Reno, the advisory spans western Nevada Basin, Northern Washoe County, Greater Reno–Carson City–Minden, and parts of northeastern California, including Lassen and Plumas counties. Heat-related illnesses are more likely, particularly for those outdoors for extended periods or without adequate cooling.

Communities near Pyramid Lake and along U.S. 395 should limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening hours. Staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged sun exposure, and checking on vulnerable neighbors and pets remain critical safety steps.

While Wednesday’s high of 96°F will still be hot, Thursday’s predicted 92°F signals a gradual cooldown heading into the weekend. The NWS will issue updates if conditions change.
