Reno, NV: Warm 2025 Brings Record Heat, Below-Normal Snow

Reno, Nevada – The National Weather Service has released its 2025 climate highlights for Reno, showing one of the warmest years on record alongside significantly below-normal snowfall.

According to the National Weather Service in Reno, 2025 ranked as the second warmest calendar year on record for the city, trailing only 2014. Five months finished among the top 10 warmest on record, including May, June, September, November, and December. Both November and December set records as the warmest on record.

Temperature extremes included two new record monthly highs, with 99 degrees recorded on May 31 and 78 degrees on November 1.

Precipitation totals for the year reached 9.57 inches, which was 2.22 inches above average, placing 2025 as the 27th wettest year overall. Five record wet calendar days were documented, including events on January 25, December 24, April 14, July 27, and November 17.

Snowfall was notably limited. Reno recorded just 8.3 inches of snow for the year, which is 12.6 inches below average. The largest single-day snowfall was 3.6 inches on February 13, and no measurable snow has been recorded at KRNO since March 31.

Wind was another notable factor in 2025. Three days ranked as the windiest on record for average wind speed, with the highest daily average of 48 mph on March 16. The strongest wind gust of the year reached 70 mph on February 2.

The National Weather Service described warmth as the defining feature of Reno’s 2025 climate.
