Reno, Nevada – Sunny skies and familiar afternoon breezes are setting the stage for a warm stretch in Reno and surrounding areas this week, with temperatures on the rise and above-normal highs expected by the weekend. According to the National Weather Service in Reno, a steady warming trend kicks off Tuesday, pushing daytime temperatures into the low 90s for much of western Nevada by midweek. Reno will climb from the upper 80s today to near 95 degrees by Friday, while Susanville and Virginia City will both see highs push into the 80s and low 90s.
Cities around Lake Tahoe, including South Lake and Mammoth, will enjoy slightly cooler days in the upper 70s and low 80s, but even those spots will trend warmer by Friday. Typical afternoon breezes should help take the edge off the heat, but residents are urged to stay hydrated and avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours. With little moisture in the forecast, fire risk will also remain elevated across dry grasses and foothills.
This warming pattern is expected to hold through at least Friday, and the weather service may issue additional advisories if conditions shift. Stay tuned for updated guidance and remember to check local alerts as the week progresses.
