Nevada greets the morning with a dry, crisp chill settling into the Truckee Meadows. Cold air pools near the valley floor, frost rims parked cars, and shaded pavement stays stiff under early light.

According to the National Weather Service, Reno starts the day in the mid-20s, with calm winds allowing cold air to linger. Temperatures climb slowly, reaching the low 50s this afternoon under mostly cloudy skies.

Drivers should remain cautious during the early commute. Frost can create slick patches on bridges, ramps, and neighborhood roads, especially along I-580, I-80, and surface streets near Sparks and south Reno. Even dry pavement may refreeze after sunrise in shaded areas.

Cloud cover increases again tonight, but temperatures still drop into the mid-20s, setting up another cold start. Pipes, pets, and outdoor plants remain vulnerable during repeated freeze cycles this week.

Thursday stays cool but stable. Mostly cloudy skies hold highs near the mid-50s, while nighttime lows dip close to 30 degrees. Conditions stay quiet, with no precipitation expected in the valley. By Friday, sunshine returns more consistently. Highs reach the low 50s, and roads thaw faster by midday.

Saturday delivers the clearest improvement. Bright sun and dry air push highs into the mid-40s, with crisp but calmer travel conditions. Nights remain cold, with lows falling into the upper teens in outlying areas, keeping frost concerns in place.

Looking ahead, the 6–10 day outlook shows near-normal temperatures for northern Nevada. Warmer-than-average air builds across the Southwest, while colder weather focuses farther east, keeping Reno dry for now.
