Reno, Nev. – Drivers across western Nevada should brace for wet roads and gusty winds Tuesday as September showers move into the region. Rain chances increase Tuesday night and again Wednesday, raising concerns for commuters on I-580 and surrounding highways. Residents are urged to plan ahead, especially for evening travel when wet pavement and reduced visibility could make driving hazardous.
According to the National Weather Service in Reno, clouds will build Tuesday with a high near 73 degrees before showers develop after dark. A 30 percent chance of rain continues into Wednesday morning, paired with winds up to 15 mph. Showers may linger Wednesday night into Thursday, with overnight lows dipping into the 40s.
The unsettled stretch comes after a clear start to the week. Sunny skies Monday will give way to increasing cloud cover by tonight, followed by a cool-down lasting into midweek. Motorists traveling through Washoe County should monitor changing conditions, especially along mountain routes where showers could be heavier.
By Friday, skies will clear, offering drier and warmer conditions with highs climbing back to the mid-70s. The weekend looks seasonably pleasant, but another round of fall-like weather could develop early next week.
