Salt Lake City, UT – Remnant tropical moisture from the decaying system Priscilla in the eastern Pacific is expected to move into southern Utah by Thursday, bringing several days of rainfall and potential flooding across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, moisture will linger through Friday before a cold front sweeps through on Saturday, producing widespread showers and thunderstorms across most of the state. The heaviest rainfall is expected in southern and eastern Utah, where totals could reach between 2–4 inches in some areas.

Meteorologists noted uncertainty in the system’s exact track — a more westerly path could bring heavier rain across much of Utah and southwestern Wyoming, while an easterly track would keep the heaviest precipitation concentrated near the Four Corners region.

The NWS warns of flash flooding from Thursday through Saturday, particularly in slot canyons, dry washes, and burn scar areas. The flood threat is currently highest on Saturday, especially in southeast Utah.

Rainfall totals through Sunday are forecast to range from 0.5 to 1.5 inches across much of the state, with higher localized amounts possible. Residents are urged to monitor weather alerts and avoid flood-prone areas as the system moves through.
