The alert began at noon Friday and is expected to continue until sunset, when wind speeds are forecast to diminish.
Southwest winds ranging from 5 to 15 mph are expected, with gusts peaking near 25 mph. Ridgetop locations could see gusts nearing 30 mph. Relative humidity levels are anticipated to drop as low as 20%, and fine fuel moisture is projected to fall below 10%—a dangerous combination for fire spread.
Officials urge residents to avoid any outdoor burning during the warning period, as any spark could lead to fast-moving wildfires. Extra caution is advised near wooded areas, especially in higher elevations.
