Elliott, ND – A rollover crash involving a side-by-side in rural Ransom County left five people injured Friday evening near Elliott, including a driver who was seriously hurt.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the crash happened Friday around 6:30 p.m. in the 12200 block of 71st Street SE, about 2.5 miles southwest of Elliott. Authorities reported the vehicle, a 2026 Polaris Ranger, was traveling westbound on a minimum maintenance road covered in snow and mud when the driver allegedly lost control.

Investigators said the vehicle reportedly ran off the roadway before overcorrecting and overturning. The driver, a 36-year-old Lisbon man, was not wearing a seat belt and sustained serious injuries. Officials said DUI is alleged as a contributing factor, and charges related to alleged impaired driving are pending.

A 29-year-old female passenger from Lisbon and two juvenile passengers also from Lisbon were reported injured in the crash. A 20-year-old woman from Valley City sustained serious injuries and was not wearing a seat belt, authorities said. All occupants were transported to CHI Lisbon Health, with the driver later airlifted to Fargo for additional treatment.

Emergency crews from the North Dakota State Patrol, Ransom County Sheriffโ€™s Office, Lisbon Ambulance, Sanford AirMed, and Lisbon Fire Department responded to the scene.

Road conditions were described as snowy and muddy at the time of the crash, which remains under active investigation. Officials noted that juvenile passenger details have not been released.
