Crary, ND – A 38-year-old Devils Lake woman was seriously injured Wednesday night in a two-vehicle crash on US Highway 2 near Crary, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred around 9:35 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, about 2.5 miles southeast of Crary in Ramsey County. Investigators say the woman, driving a 2004 Infiniti FX35, rear-ended a 2019 Chevrolet Express Van carrying members of the Lake Region College men’s intramural basketball team.
According to the Highway Patrol, the Infiniti struck the van, crossed the median, rolled, and came to rest facing south in the median. The Chevrolet van, driven by a 43-year-old man from Lakota, was pushed into the median but remained upright.
The Devils Lake woman suffered serious injuries and was transported to CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake before being transferred to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. She was charged with DUI (1st offense), a Class B misdemeanor.
Ten passengers in the van — including students from North Dakota, Minnesota, Australia, and Canada — were all uninjured. Seatbelts were reported worn by everyone in the van.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol, with assistance from multiple local law enforcement and emergency agencies.
