Raleigh, NC – A fire danger warning is in effect across parts of North Carolina until 8 p.m. Thursday as dry conditions and warm temperatures create a heightened risk of fire spread. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning due to low relative humidity and dry fuels.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Raleigh, relative humidity levels are expected to drop as low as 21% in some areas, with temperatures ranging from 70°F to 80°F. The most at-risk areas are outlined in yellow on the NWS alert map, covering counties including Wake, Durham, and surrounding regions.
The weather is expected to remain partly to mostly cloudy, but the combination of dry air and above-normal temperatures increases the fire threat. Authorities recommend exercising caution with any open flames and properly disposing of cigarette butts.
Officials advise residents to monitor updates from the NWS and local emergency services for any potential fire developments. The alert is set to expire at 8 p.m. Thursday unless conditions change.
