Raleigh, NC – Periods of light rain and drizzle will persist across much of central and eastern North Carolina today, leading to a cool, gray, and damp Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Raleigh.
While most of the day will feature light precipitation, forecasters say an area of steady to moderate showers will move in from the west tonight, continuing into Thursday morning. The Triad region and points east toward the Triangle are expected to see the steadiest rainfall overnight.
Ahead of this incoming system, areas of fog — some of it dense in spots — could form late tonight into early Thursday, reducing visibility for the morning commute.
Highs today will remain in the upper 50s to lower 60s, with overnight lows in the mid-40s to 50s. Conditions should begin to gradually improve Thursday afternoon, with drier weather returning toward the end of the week.
Drivers are urged to use caution in fog-prone areas and allow extra travel time during the Thursday morning rush.
