Raleigh, NC – Sunshine and dry weather are expected to dominate central North Carolina on Tuesday, bringing a noticeable improvement from the recent cold start to the day.

According to the National Weather Service office in Raleigh, skies will be mostly sunny throughout Tuesday, with temperatures warming into the upper 40s by the afternoon. While still slightly below normal for mid-December, the sunshine will make conditions feel more comfortable than recent mornings.

Early Tuesday temperatures began in the mid-20s to near 30 degrees, prompting a chilly start across the region. As the sun rises, temperatures are forecast to steadily climb, reaching 46 to 49 degrees in many communities by mid to late afternoon.

Forecasters say dry conditions are expected all day, with no precipitation concerns and light winds helping to keep conditions pleasant. The calmer weather will provide favorable conditions for travel, outdoor errands, and other daytime activities.

Despite the afternoon warm-up, temperatures are expected to cool quickly after sunset. Overnight lows Tuesday night will dip back into the upper 20s to low 30s, especially in outlying and rural areas.

Meteorologists note that while Tuesday’s highs remain below seasonal averages, the day will mark a break from more unsettled weather seen earlier. No hazardous weather is anticipated, and visibility will remain good throughout the day.

Residents are encouraged to dress in layers, especially during the morning hours, and take advantage of the dry, sunny conditions during the afternoon.

The National Weather Service advises staying up to date with future forecasts as additional temperature changes are expected later in the week.
