Raleigh, NC – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through noon Tuesday for the northern Piedmont and northern Coastal Plain, including the Triad and Triangle regions, according to the National Weather Service in Raleigh.

Any rain or snow from the past 24 hours has frozen overnight, creating a risk of black ice on untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses. Temperatures across the area remain below freezing early this morning, with air temperatures not expected to rise above 32°F until late morning to midday.

Areas such as Raleigh, Durham, Greensboro, and Rocky Mount could see freezing conditions persist until around 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. EST. The NWS warns that even after the air warms above freezing, road temperatures may take longer to recover, maintaining slick conditions.

Travelers are urged to slow down, allow extra braking distance, and use caution during the morning commute.
