Raleigh, N.C. – Unseasonably warm temperatures in the mid-60s to mid-70s will dominate central North Carolina today before a cold front sweeps through this evening, bringing increasing clouds and the chance for isolated showers.

Afternoon highs are expected to peak near 72 degrees in Raleigh and Durham, with Fayetteville climbing closer to 75 degrees. The warmth will combine with a strengthening southwest breeze ahead of the approaching front, creating mild and pleasant conditions through much of the day.

By late afternoon and into the evening hours, cloud cover will increase from west to east as the cold front advances across the Piedmont. While widespread rain is not expected, a few isolated showers may develop, particularly along the I-40 and I-85 corridors between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Motorists traveling along US-1 and I-95 should remain alert for brief reductions in visibility if showers occur.

Behind the front, cooler air will settle into the region overnight. Temperatures are forecast to fall into the upper 30s to lower 40s by early Monday morning, marking a noticeable shift from the afternoon warmth.

No severe weather is anticipated, but residents should be prepared for a quick temperature drop after sunset. Light winds will shift to the northwest behind the front, reinforcing the cooler air mass into the start of the new week.

Drivers should monitor changing sky conditions this evening, especially during peak travel hours, as the front passes and scattered showers move through central North Carolina.
