Raleigh, North Carolina – Temperatures will be slightly cooler today but remain well above average, with afternoon highs ranging from the mid-60s to near 70 degrees across the Raleigh area.
According to the National Weather Service in Raleigh, overcast skies will increase tonight as cooler air settles in. Despite the cooling trend, temperatures are expected to stay mild, with lows mainly in the 40s overnight.
Patchy fog is forecast to develop late tonight into early Friday morning, which could reduce visibility for commuters. Forecasters also note that patchy drizzle may be possible in parts of the region early Friday, especially in the Triad, though widespread rain is not expected.
Friday will remain mild for January, with temperatures continuing above seasonal norms. Conditions are expected to gradually improve later Friday morning as fog lifts.
Drivers heading out early Friday are advised to slow down and use caution in areas where fog develops, especially on secondary roads and near low-lying areas.
