Raleigh, NC – After a damp and unsettled start to the week, Halloween night is shaping up to be dry but chilly across much of central North Carolina, according to the National Weather Service in Raleigh.

Forecasters say skies will clear by Thursday evening, giving trick-or-treaters a break from the rain — though temperatures will dip quickly after sunset.

In Raleigh, temperatures are expected to fall from 59°F at 4 p.m. to around 49°F by 10 p.m. Greensboro will see a similar trend, with highs near 56°F early evening before dropping into the upper 40s, while Fayetteville will stay slightly milder, from 62°F at 4 p.m. to 51°F late evening.

The cooler, drier air follows several days of unsettled weather across the Carolinas, with showers expected earlier in the week before a cold front clears the region.

Residents heading out for Halloween festivities should plan for a crisp, fall evening and consider adding an extra layer under costumes.
