Raleigh, NC – Residents across North Carolina are waking up to cloudy skies, drizzle, and patchy fog Thursday morning, but conditions are expected to improve as the day progresses.
According to the US National Weather Service Raleigh, light rain or drizzle is possible in the eastern part of the state early today, while patchy fog lingers in the west. By the afternoon, skies are forecast to clear to partly sunny, though eastern areas may still experience a few scattered showers.
Temperatures will remain near to slightly below seasonal averages. Highs are expected to reach the mid-70s to low 80s, while overnight lows will dip into the mid-50s to low 60s.
Drivers in western North Carolina should use caution during the morning commute, as patchy fog may reduce visibility on highways. Meanwhile, residents in the east may want to keep umbrellas handy in case of passing showers later in the day.
Forecasters note that the cooler-than-normal pattern will persist into the weekend, offering a break from summer heat.
