Raleigh, NC – A touch of wintry weather could affect parts of north-central North Carolina early Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Raleigh.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for areas near the Virginia border, including Roxboro, Reidsville, and Yanceyville, where up to one inch of snow is possible. Patchy freezing rain or sleet may also occur, though little to no ice accumulation is expected.
Farther south, including the Triangle and Sandhills regions, precipitation will fall mainly as cold rain through the morning before tapering off from west to east this afternoon.
Roads may become slick in spots, especially on bridges and overpasses, and drivers in the advisory area should use caution during the morning commute.
Clouds will linger behind the system, keeping temperatures chilly through the afternoon with highs only in the 40s.
